This painting is a love letter to my small Central Florida hometown. This is a scene from my childhood backyard after the woods behind this fence were totally cleared. The sky is beautiful, but I miss seeing all the trees there instead. I have a lot of memories of the orange tree depicted here, as it's gotten older it only produces a few rotten oranges each year. My town has faced rapid urbanization, growth, and a cost of living crisis, like many places in Florida.
